"Following a land dispute that has been going on for quite some time, my eldest brother decided to
divide my father’s land among my siblings, leaving me out. The problem was exacerbated when he
was made the head of "nyumba kumi", a security group in the village. He got a group of more than
thirty villagers to testify against me and would have succeeded were it not for the intervention of
village elders (according to tradition, a father divides his land amongst all his male children and
unmarried daughters) who reversed the verdict and it was ruled that like all my entitled siblings, I
should get a share.
"He was always plotting evil and my downfall because of my faith. He called the surveyors to divide
the land on a Sabbath because he knew very well that I would rather not get my share than break
the Sabbath. He did so maliciously because he thought with such a plan, I would get the worst part
of the land. However, after I presented my problem to the elders and pastors during the previous
feast of Tabernacles, God intervened and overthrew the plan devised by my brother. It was now
decided that we would be allocated the land by casting lots. The exercise was carried out on a
Sabbath and therefore after I came back from church (after Sabbath), I took my lot, and
miraculously, I got a number that gave me the best part of that land.
"I give thanks to Hashem, our Almighty father for his intervention and fighting the battle in my
favor," wound up Evangelist Karanja Ngumba as the congregation thunderously applauded.
